Margot Shapiro is a seasoned investment professional with 35+ years in private equity and venture capital. Margot started her career in the Investment Banking division of Goldman Sachs in New York. Afterward she moved to a private equity firm where she assisted with venture capital and leveraged buyout deals for this partnership consisting of over 30 portfolio companies totaling $6 billion in revenues. She closed investments in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, biotechnology, education and restaurants, and was a board member of portfolio companies.

After moving to California, she co-founded LMN Ventures in 2010 with two business school classmates, investing in early-stage, women-led businesses in the consumer, life science, clean tech and education sectors where she was responsible for all investments in the consumer space. In 2018, Margot joined Spiral Sun Ventures as a Managing Partner, investing in companies that promote a healthier lifestyle, particularly in the food & beverage, pet and personal care sectors.

Margot holds a B.S. in Applied Earth Science and an M.S. in Petroleum Geology from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is married, lives in Laguna Beach, CA, and has three grown children. She also loves being involved in mentorship and is passionate about empowering female entrepreneurs and working to expand roles for women in venture capital.
